I split my time between Toronto (Ontario, Canada) and Muskoka with my boyfriend, Rob, and my Standard Poodle, Pepper.

The name Birch Bark Yarn Crafts was inspired by the beautiful island where my family spends our summers—it’s dotted with birch trees, and they’ve always been my favourite deciduous tree 🙂

I began knitting as a kid, taught by my Grandma Marion. I made a few dishcloths and a terrible scarf or two. Then…I put it down and completely forgot about my new skill for a number of years 🤷🏻‍♀️. After I graduated college, I picked it up again as a way to relax and keep my hands busy. True story: yarn has saved me from countless calories of mindless evening snacking 🤣. Over the years I have taught myself how to crochet and numerous new knitting skills with the help of so many wonderful makers on YouTube. By late 2020, the volume of finished projects (mostly hats, my favourite quick knit) was overwhelming my apartment and frankly was far beyond anything I’d ever get around to wearing myself, so I decided to start selling to family, friends, and eventually everyone via Etsy. In early 2021, I released my first designs, and and now we’re here!

Every knit or crochet item for sale in my Etsy shop has been lovingly handcrafted by me. I hope you find the perfect gift—for yourself, a loved one, a friend, a teacher, or anyone in your life who is deserving of some handmade goodness (in my book, that’s everyone!).
